# NFL Teams Trim Rosters Ahead of 2026 Season Deadline

NFL teams are actively reducing their rosters as of Monday, August 24, in preparation for the upcoming 2026 season. These player moves are occurring across the league, leading up to the final 53-man roster deadline set for August 30.

Several players from various teams have been released or waived. In the AFC East, the Miami Dolphins waived C Jim Bonifas and CB Ahmari Harvey. The New England Patriots released WR Kobe Prentice and CB Kenneth Harris.

Moving to the AFC North, the Cincinnati Bengals waived OT Cody Ford. The Cleveland Browns released TE Dea’Quan Wright and CB Tyron Herring, while the Pittsburgh Steelers waived DB Israel Mukuamu.

In the AFC South, the Houston Texans made multiple cuts, including RB Joshua Pitsenberger, WR Jha’Quan Jackson, WR Juwann Winfree, and LB Marte Mapu.

For the AFC West, the Kansas City Chiefs waived WR Jeff Caldwell, and the Las Vegas Raiders released WR Noah Brown.

In the NFC East, the Dallas Cowboys waived NT Kelvin Gilliam. The New York Giants released WR Ryan Miller, and the Philadelphia Eagles waived RB Ja’Quinden Jackson and S J.T. Gray.

Within the NFC North, the Detroit Lions waived RB Kye Robichaux, and the Minnesota Vikings released DL Taki Taimani and CB Tyreek Chappell.

Finally, in the NFC West, the Arizona Cardinals waived RB Trey Benson, WR Bryson Green, and TE Baylor Cupp. The Los Angeles Rams released LB Daniel Rickert. The San Francisco 49ers waived TE Josiah Deguara, TE Tanner McLachlan, and DE Titus Leo, and the Seattle Seahawks waived RB Anthony Hankerson.

Some players were waived with an injury designation and have since reverted to their team’s injured reserve list.
