A new elevated water tank along Metric Road is positioned to open up fresh development opportunities in Laurens County, part of a broader infrastructure push aimed at supporting growth along the I-26 corridor near Greer. The Metric Road Elevated Tank and Waterline Project is designed to stabilize system pressure across the area while giving the Laurens County Water and Sewer Commission more capacity to serve new industrial and residential customers.

The project is one of several the water commission has highlighted during a recent infrastructure push, which also includes a Hospital Zone Water Improvements Project intended to boost pumping capacity and add new water storage to strengthen resilience for the county’s hospital and surrounding customers. Officials have framed the Metric Road work as a key piece of preparing the area for continued growth, particularly along industrial corridors where water capacity has been a limiting factor for new projects.

For property owners and developers eyeing sites near Metric Road, the added capacity could make previously difficult parcels more viable, since water and sewer availability is often one of the first hurdles a development has to clear before moving forward.
