## NorthMark Compute and Cloud Updates Water Demand Estimates

NorthMark Compute and Cloud has indicated that its planned data center in Spartanburg County is projected to use substantially more water than initially reported. The company previously stated the project would require approximately 459,000 gallons of water per day.

The updated projections show the facility is expected to use an average of 1.2 million gallons of water daily at full buildout, with a potential maximum of 1.6 million gallons per day. NorthMark clarified that the original figure stemmed from a Phase I wastewater survey and did not reflect the facility’s full water demand.

These higher water demand figures were provided to Spartanburg Water on February 11, 2026, as part of the project’s Large Water Meter Questionnaire. Spartanburg Water has confirmed its capacity to serve the project without negatively impacting current or future customers.

Spartanburg County Commissioner of Public Works Dr. Octavia Amaechi expressed concern regarding the significant change in projected water demand. Dr. Amaechi emphasized the importance of transparency, accurate information, responsible resource stewardship, and public accountability. She has raised questions about how the projections changed, daily water usage, and the implications for long-term water use. NorthMark has affirmed its commitment to transparency and welcomes inquiries about the project’s water use, supply, and wastewater plans.
