COLUMBIA, S.C. — Hosting the ITA Carolina Regional Championships, South Carolina women’s tennis cleared the first wave of the singles main draw with five victories and added a pair of doubles wins on home courts.

Bergqvist Larsson opened with a 6-2, 6-3 decision over Charlotte’s Andrea Chacon. Dunyon beat Gilheany of NC State, 7-5 and 6-2. Stojanova dropped the first set to Jasmine Conway of NC State, then answered 6-0, 6-2. Rivoli beat Santos of Wake Forest 6-3, 6-4, and Carnicella outlasted Manning of North Carolina 6-3, 7-5.

In doubles, Borkop and Rivoli beat North Carolina A&T 8-4, while Pate and Stojanova blanked UNCG 8-0.

Qualifying was uneven. Pate rolled past College of Charleston’s Sophia Kovacheva 6-1, 6-0 before Wake Forest’s Catherine Rennard stopped her 6-3, 6-4. Borkop exited when Charlotte’s Karina Mohamed won 6-4, 6-2.

The Carolina Regional gathers programs from across the Carolinas and awards NCAA individual championship berths to the singles finalists and the doubles champion at each site.
