GREER, S.C. — Greer-area residents who would rather not wait for Election Day can cast a ballot close to home starting Monday, Oct. 19, when Greenville County opens its early voting centers for the statewide general election.

The Greer stop is the family life center at Praise Cathedral, 3375 Brushy Creek Road. It is one of seven centers the county is running this fall.

The rest are spread around the county: the back entrance of McAlister Square on South Pleasantburg Drive, the Mt. Pleasant Community Center on South Fairfield Road, the Greenville Tech northwest campus on Whitehorse Road, the city public works complex on Fairforest Way, plus the Five Forks branch library and Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, both in Simpsonville.

A registered Greenville County voter can pick whichever center is handiest. Doors are open from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. six days a week, Monday through Saturday, and the window shuts on Saturday, Oct. 31. Bring a photo ID.

Voters who skip the early period can still go to their assigned precinct on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
