GREER, S.C. — A bagel franchise that has been spreading across coastal South Carolina is headed for the Upstate, with Jeff’s Bagel Run lining up a shop at 423 The Parkway near Greer.

The new store sits beside Publix and is slated to open before the end of the year. It will be the brand’s first Upstate location, selling bagels baked from scratch plus spreads and iced drinks.

The company started in Florida in June 2021. Its South Carolina shops so far are clustered near the coast, in Isle of Palms, Mount Pleasant, Charleston and Johns Island, and another one is in the works for Myrtle Beach.

That Myrtle Beach push comes from a pair of longtime Hungry Howie’s Pizza operators, Jennifer Yanakiev and Brian Edelen, who signed on this summer to build three Jeff’s Bagel Run units in the state. Their first is planned for 4112 River Oaks Drive.

Co-founder Jeff Perera has said the brand wants operators who believe in the product as it keeps expanding across the Southeast. The Greer shop would push that growth inland for the first time.
