Two Lexington Men Face State Charges in Child Exploitation Cases

Two Lexington men were arrested recently on state charges related to the sexual exploitation of a minor, as announced by South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson on August 25. These arrests, while announced on the same day, are not connected to each other.

Joshua Rene Massalou, 31, was taken into custody on August 14. He faces one count of criminal solicitation of a minor, a felony offense that carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison. Investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force conducted the arrest after Massalou allegedly solicited a minor for sex. The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute his case.

Separately, Hunter Scott Duncan, 31, was arrested on August 20. He has been charged with one count of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, also a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Investigators were led to Duncan after receiving a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Authorities stated that Duncan was found to be in possession of child sexual abuse material. The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, with assistance from the Attorney General’s Office, made this arrest. Duncan’s case will also be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
