Spartanburg Community College's Irran Duncan Honored by SC State

Irran Duncan, the director of TRIO Programs at Spartanburg Community College, has been named to South Carolina State University’s Forty Under 40 Class of 2026. This recognition, announced on Thursday, August 27, 2026, celebrates alumni under 40 who have made significant contributions in their professions and communities, aligning with the theme Recognizing Excellence. Celebrating Impact.

Duncan is a two-time graduate of South Carolina State University, having earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 2009 and a Master of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship in 2012. He joined Spartanburg Community College in 2019 as an enrollment advisor and was promoted to director of TRIO in 2020.

In his current role, Duncan oversees the college’s TRIO Student Support Services and Talent Search programs. These initiatives are designed to help students at Spartanburg Community College persist in their studies, graduate, and successfully transfer to four-year institutions. Additionally, the programs prepare middle and high school students in Cherokee County for college or the workforce. Duncan also serves on various college committees and is the vice president of South Carolina TRIO.
