BOILING SPRINGS, S.C. — A wreck on Highway 9 in Boiling Springs on Wednesday left a 63-year-old local man dead, the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office said.
The collision happened along Highway 9 near Hames Road, a busy stretch of the main corridor that runs through the northern Spartanburg County community. The man was taken from the scene to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on Wednesday evening.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is handling the investigation into what caused the crash. Troopers have not said how many vehicles were involved, whether anyone else was hurt or whether charges are possible.
Coroner officials have not released further details about the wreck. Drivers who use Highway 9 between Boiling Springs and Spartanburg may see troopers in the area as the inquiry continues.
